The importance of washing:

Did you know that bowls that contain your pet's food and water should be washed daily? That's right: even if your dog or cat licks it clean to the last crumb, the microscopic residue that is left by food and saliva is a breeding ground for bacteria and germs. Some of the bacteria that can proliferate (e.g. staphylococcus aureus, streptococcus, enterobacteria and others) pose a potential danger to the health of your pet. In a perfect world, we would wash out our pet's bowls every day. For most of us, the reality is that we don’t have time for it. With our busy schedules, days often pass before we get around to washing our pets' bowls, allowing pathogens to multiply. By purchasing an additional set of bowls, you will be able to serve each of your pet's meals in freshly cleaned bowls while the other set is being washed in the dishwasher.
